Data Collaboration:

EarthChem invites collaborations with academic individuals, projects and initiatives, national statutory bodies, and commercial entities that generate, archive and/or provide access to geochemical data. To read about the different levels of collaboration based on the level of accessibility to a collaborator's data at the EarthChem portal download our Policy.

Topical Data Collections in Development with our Partners

Bushveld Igneous Complex Dataset
The University of Witwatersrand, South Africa and EarthChem are partnering to compile data from the Bushveld Igneous Complex. The Bushveld is a 2 billion-year old intrusion possessing some of the world's riches ore deposits, including the platinum-rich Merensky Reef. Data entry will begin in February 2008.  Read more about BushveldDB

MexDB: The database of Mexican Igneous Rocks
EarthChem staff recently met with Luca Ferrari (UNAM) and Susanne Straub (LDEO) to move forward on the development of a database project focused on the TransMexican Volcanic Belt. The effort will increase the number of volcanic samples from Mexico currently housed under NAVDAT and will enhance quality of data and metadata in current holdings to include detailed subduction and volume parameters, as well as ages and analytical methods. Download the MexDB report and action plan (160KB).

Central Atlantic Magmatic Province Dataset
EarthChem, in partnership with Rutgers University and LDEO/Columbia University, has begun assembling geochemical and petrological data from the Central Atlantic Magmatic Province (CAMP) as of June 2007. The complete CAMP dataset will provide researchers with unprecedented access to data for studies on the world's largest Large Igneous Province. The CAMP dataset will be applicable to a wide range of research topics from continental break-up and the Triassic/Jurassic mass extinction to geochemical characteristics of the mantle prior to the onset of MORB volcanism.
