CZChemDB and EarthChem: Critical zone geochemical data.

June 2011: EarthChem’s affiliates at PennState are presenting a paper at the Ninth International Symposium on the Geochemistry of the Earth’s Surface (GES9), June 2-7 at the University of Colorado, Boulder. The article, published in Applied Geochemistry, describes the CZChemDB, a relational database developed for critical zone rock and regolith geochemical data.

The Penn State group, part of the Susquehanna Shale Hills Critical Zone Observatory, is teaming with EarthChem to make CZChemDB data discoverable by the EarthChem Portal. This connection broadens the scope of EarthChem geochemical data to the critical zone - the Earth’s outer layer from vegetation canopy to the soil and groundwater that sustains human life.
